What is Beekeeping?

Bringing a holistic perspective to life, Assoc. Dr. Alaattin Kirazcı’s İstanBAL project expresses how life with nature is possible in the city. In his own words; “In today’s cities, people whose bonds with nature are getting weaker day by day, they face more concrete problems, high-rise buildings, air pollution and traffic jams. This is not sustainable because it threatens the life of all living things, including humans. Ecological art draws attention to ecological extinction, our fragile connection with nature, threatening all living creatures on earth. Disruption of ecological balance, sustainability, extinction of plants and animals, degradation of seeds, recycling or reuse are at the center of artistic production. It is more social, rather than producing art objects that appeal to the eyes and are stuck in the gallery space, its production is in direct or indirect nature. As I perceive and apply, beekeeping in the middle of the city is one of the reflections of ecological art, and it is a means of reminding this bond to the urban people, while increasing the ecological diversity in the city, and on the other hand, weakening the bond with nature day by day.
